This isn’t your grandmother’s Fertility Awareness program. We’re bringing beauty back to natural, pill-free pregnancy achievement (and pregnancy avoidance!) with a simple, intuitive interface built for women, by a woman.
Femm.me was designed around the core principles of the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). What is Fertility Awareness (FAM)? Here's a nice explanation from the University of Maryland Medical Center:
"Fertility awareness methods, also called natural family planning, do not use drugs, physical devices, or surgery to prevent [or achieve] pregnancy. Instead, these cycle-based methods rely on tracking the changes in the body that signal fertility."
Many women use FAM to conceive, but the same principles can be used to prevent pregnancy. Regarding the use of FAM for birth control, the article goes on to say:
"A woman is only fertile during part of her menstrual cycle. By monitoring certain changes in her body, a woman can more or less predict the fertile phase and abstain from sexual intercourse during that time. She can also use barrier methods if they are not prohibited by religious beliefs."
Whatever your reason for using the Fertility Awareness Method, we think you'll find that Femm.me is a refreshing way to track the vital signs important to accurately understanding your natural fertility signals and gynecological health.×
How does it work?
Take your temperature
Every morning, before you do anything (including brushing your teeth!) take your temperature with a BBT thermometer. Yes, this part’s mandatory. But after a while you’ll get used to it.
Pro Tip: If your partner is helping, be awake enough to prevent him from putting the thing up your nose.
Record Any “Activities”
Of course you’ll need to record your temperatures each morning. But you also need to keep track of any action in the bedroom.
Whenever you have intercourse, remember to note it here. Don’t worry, we’ll remind you the next morning when you record your temp.
Listen to Your Body
You’re not just sticking a thermometer in your mouth every morning for fun. When our sassy algorithm (and your body) tell you it’s time to take a break from the fun, go eat a bowl of lentils.
Or, if you’re trying to get pregnant, duty calls. If you know what I mean.
